Hong Kong Law Reports and Digest is the only authorised law reporting service in Hong Kong endorsed by the Judiciary. Cases are selected by the Hon Mr Justice Bokhary GBM, NPJ, General Editor, ensuring the most reliable and comprehensive coverage of over 100 years of official case law in Hong Kong

The following cases were recently reported by the Hon Mr Justice Bokhary. See below for His Lordship’s remarks and observations by way of Editor’s Notes.

Chan Man Ki v Yau Chun For [2021] 2 HKLRD 366

“It will be observed that both Lam V-P at paras.2 - 8 and Chu JA at para.78 spoke of the desirability of litigants adopting a proportionate mode of dispute resolution. Hopefully their words will be duly heeded.”

Deluxe Ascent Ltd v Director of Lands [2021] 2 HKLRD 431

“The policy here in question is of wide implications and, moreover, some of the points decided involve general principles.”

Director of Social Welfare v LNT [2021] 2 HKLRD 579

“It is to be observed that in para.68 the Judge drew attention to materials from which the Official Solicitor may find assistance in cases like this.”

Imelda Quinto Abong v Coroner [2021] 2 HKLRD 607

“Albeit only with the benefit of argument from one side, this judgment deals extensively with the nature and purposes of a coroner’s inquest.”
